I ioy, DeareI Joy, deare Mother, when I veiwview
Thy perfect lineaments and hue. Thy perfect lineaments, and hue
        both sweet & Both ſweet and bright.

BeautyBeautie in thee takes vp theup her place,
And dates her letters from thy face,
        When sheſhe doth write.


A fine aſpect in fitt array,fine aſpect in fit aray,
Neither too meane,mean, nor yet too gay,
        ShowesShows who is bestbeſt.

Outlandish lookesOutlandiſh looks may not compare:
For all they either painted areare,
        Or els vndrestelſe undreſt.


She on ye Hills, wch wantonliethe hills, which wantonly
Allureth all in hope to beebe
        By her preferd,preferr’d,

Hath kiss’dkiſs’d so long her painted shrinesſhrines,
That euenev’n her face by kissing shineskiſſing ſhines,
        For her reward.


She in ye Valley is so shythe valley is ſo ſhie
Of dressing, yt her haire doth lydreſſing, that her hair doth lie
        About her eares:

While she avoyds her neighborsſhe avoids her neighbours pride,
She wholywholly goes on th’other sideth’ other ſide,
        And nothing weareswears.

But Dearestdeareſt Mother, what those misse,(what thoſe miſſe)
The meane, thy praise and glorymean thy praiſe and glorie is,
        And long may beebe.

BlessedBleſſed be God, whose Louewhoſe love it was
To double-motemoat thee with his grace,
        And none but thee.
